Where it all started . . .

It started out as a simple little newspaper that our two boys made one night when they were supposed to be in bed (in their “bunk beds”). They called it The Bunk Room. Articles about the goings on with our family and friends were hand-scrolled across the pages with all the passion that likely beset Benjamin Franklin in his early days of printing and publishing.

As the mother of these boys and their two sisters, I sensed they were on to something. My publishing background no doubt took over as well, in addition to my passion for anything printed. I couldn’t resist helping them bring it to the next level. Suddenly this little middle-o-the-night creation took on a life of it’s own. Before we knew it, we formated it for print, launched a website and were sharing it with all our friends. Now we are read by over 120,000 students across America.

What’s special about The Bunk Room is that all our writers are kids too. We didn’t want the Slabys to be the only kids writing it. It’s much more fun to build something with other kids. Plus kids read stuff by adults all day long. Enough already!~

The Slaby Four all take part in The Bunk Room, lead by Margo, our Editor In Chief. At 15, she’s ready to lead and gobbles up the exhilaration and pride of being part of a growing publication and inspiring kids to participate.

Very much in-the-scene is my husband and myself guiding and directing this very special publication for all the world to see and be seen in.

    It’s a win-win all over the place.

Big Smiles,
