South Charlotte: John and Jill Rakoci
As the owner of JMR Publishing, Inc., John comes to The Bunk Room with over 15 years of magazine publishing experience. He is a also the owner of a magazine distribution company which gives his advertisers a distinct advantage in assuring the local edition of The Bunk Room will reach readers where they work, shop, live and play. As an Integrated Marketing Specialist, John utilizes the latest technology to integrate print advertising with online products and social media.
John has also held the titles of Sales Director and Production Manager for a major national magazine and has personally produced publications from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. His graphic design and production background coupled with years of sales & marketing experience brings a strong foundation to The Bunk Room’s growing national network of magazines.
Wikipedia states that literacy has traditionally been described as the ability to read for knowledge, write coherently and think critically about printed material. As the father of a 9 year old daughter, these are exactly the skill sets that he encourages on a daily basis. John is excited that The Bunk Room will not only provide an opportunity to promote literacy in his own home, but throughout an entire community.
John’s wife, Jill Rakoci, will serve as Co-Publisher and Social Media Director for The Bunk Room – South Charlotte edition. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Education degree as well as an undergraduate degree in Information Technology.
Jill has been working in education and early childhood intervention for the past 11 years. Helping children with developmental delays or disabilities reach their full potential is not just her job, it’s her passion. Jill loves working with families and helping them to realize the importance of sharing quality time together through reading. She loves that The Bunk Room will be one more tool she can use to inspire children throughout the area.
Jill’s says that her favorite quote by Dr. Seuss epitomizes the philosophy of The Bunk Room. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
