Maria Slaby, National Publisher, Creative Director
As an experienced business owner, Maria has been publishing The Bunk Room since 2007. Maria’s background is all about words. As a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a BA in Journalism (print) she has put years into her craft. First, as an editor at Harcourt Publishing and later as the owner of her own advertising agency and greeting card publishing firm, she has been involved with the printed word for more than two decades. She also follows that passion into the classroom - hers - where she educates her four children. She’s a biker chick too -- pedaling her way through picturesque Mount Dora, Florida with her family, often stopping for ice cream along the way!
Mark Slaby, Director of Licensing
With corporate experience including Walt Disney World, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Rasmussen College, Mark is a consultant, trainer and educator. His career includes teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level over a 20-year span. Mark has a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and advanced degrees in business and economics from the University of Central Florida. Mark enjoys being a handy-man of everything and secretly is working on a stealth motor attachment for his bicycle.
Margo Slaby, Executive Editor and Associate Director of Licensing
Reading and writing at an early age, Margo excelled as Editor in Chief of The Bunk Room. Now she is our Executive Editor and Associate Director of Licensing. She inspires young writers to engage and contribute with her ongoing email campaigns and video updates featuring specially produced “chipmunk” voices. Margo works on much of the magazine layout each edition and has a knack for organization. She also helps us find new publishers and is usually the first person you talk with abut licensing your own edition of The Bunk Room. Since her first day operating her own day camp for kids at 12 (Camp Allegro), she’s shown she is a star leader. Homeschooled her whole life, Margo is active in her community as a volunteer manager for the prestigious Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra in Orlando. She also is working toward a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. If all that weren’t enough, she is also working on her bachelor’s degree in Business Management (emphasis in Internet Marketing) at Rasmussen College. Her goal is to graduate with her bachelor’s degree at age 19. Yep, 19.
