The Slaby Family happily publishes The Bunk Room and feels the joy and strain exponentially. Our dream to build a magazine written entirely By Kids For Kids has taken us down roads we never would have imagined had we done nothing. As with all dreams, the journey never really ends. Once you see part of your dream come true, suddenly the view ahead is filled with even more dreams!
That’s where we are at now at The Bunk Room. In less than two years, we’ve published 14 issues totaling 213 pages with multiple videos, blogs and continual email updates. It’s been exhilarating, exhausting and not without costs. The future looks so exciting from here and we’re taking baby steps every day to get there.
Up until now, we have only taken the time to casually pursue advertising revenue and have never sought donations. It’s now to the point where revenue needs to start kicking in for us to continue providing this publication and growing it to be not only a premier magazine in its class, but to continue to inspire kids to embrace the joy of reading and writing.
There are not only expenses in the maintenance of this publication, but opportunity costs for The Bunk Room staff who could be mowing lawns, cleaning bathrooms or flippin’ burgers for a “real” paycheck. :)

We are thrilled to be associated with Nourish The Children, an initiative of Nu Skin Enterprises that facilitates the donation of food (Vita Meal) worldwide in an effort to end world hunger.
